The best prices are not online. And the best service is absolutely not coming from a call center.
Booking on your own is selling yourself short — and most travelers don’t realize it until something goes wrong at 11pm in a foreign city with a 1-800 number that puts them on hold for 45 minutes.
Here’s what the major booking platforms don’t tell you: hotels do not publish every rate online. Many of their most competitive rates are distributed privately through agency networks, wholesalers, and consortia agreements that exist entirely outside of what the public can access.
Those rates never appear on Expedia, Hotels.com, or anywhere else you’re used to checking. They are only available to professionals who are connected to the industry — and I am one of them.
